Active leak in gas pipe bend on platform

Maxcase - Oil & Gas - The pipe leaks in a 4mm hole, in addition to having the wall thickness compromised.

✳️ Challenge: Degradation of the pipe curve surface on the platform, causing a hole with a large leak and consequent system shutdown.

🛠️ Scope of Activities:

- After removing residue and previous compounds through surface preparation, the exact leak location was identified and the leak was closed using a steel repair plate underneath.

- Next, Max 1511 was applied, specifically designed to repair and rebuild components exposed to moderate abrasion, severe corrosion, erosion, and chemical attack.

- Finally, a 500mm structural reinforcement was added around the entire circumference with Maxcomp to prevent further anomalies in the section.

✅ Solution: Application of ceramic coating and bidirectional epoxy matrix composite reinforced with fiberglass fabric for pipelines and pressurized equipment.

✅✅ Through a preliminary analysis to select the correct solution, the line's downtime can be reduced, allowing the system to be restored within a few hours, mitigating losses and saving costs due to rapid repairs by the on-site team.
