Maxcase #14 - Mining & Mineral Process: Recovery and reconstruction of worn converter shaft through the application of polymeric ceramic coating.
✳️ Challenge:
Shaft (length 800mm) with wear (occupying 270 mm) due to abrasion from continuous and high-intensity use of the converter.
🛠️ Scope of Activities:
-Deepening wear to ensure the adhesion of the polymeric product used for the repair;
-A blue developer was applied to the template before itwas mounted on the shaft in order to define the areas that had the nominal diameter and which ones had been worn out;
-Surface preparation was carried out and the application of the Maxceramic 1511 began;
✅Solution:
Additional surface preparation and Maxceramic application was carried out at points that did not require a template. These points were concentrated in the upper half of the axis.
✅✅ Conclusions:
Repair of the worn Converter shaft occurred as planned allowing the equipment to operate again efficiently.
