Maxcase #03 - Industry Medicinal Gases: High degree of corrosion on heat exchanger mirror, impairing the transfer of thermal energy from the equipment.
✳️ Challenge:
Repairing the steel surface in the heat exchanger involves addressing corrosion-induced removal of mill scale, resulting in the formation of visible large-scale cavities.
🛠️ Scope of Activities:
Removal of loose particles in the joint plane
Isolation of the area to be coated for maximum corrosion repair
Surface preparation and cleaning process on mirrors
Application of MAX1511 polymer to the entire treated area
✅Solution:
Careful surface preparation, with precise identification and isolation of the area with a high degree of corrosion. Next, MAX 1511 was applied, a two-component ceramic-reinforced polymer compound specifically designed to repair and rebuild components exposed to moderate abrasion, severe corrosion, erosion and chemical attacks.
✅✅ Conclusions:
After identifying the affected areas and meticulous surface preparation and marking work, the repair was carried out and the equipment returned to working without leaks and at full capacity. Thermal flows continue to be monitored by the company, remaining at full operating capacity since the repair carried out.
